Official kick-off event in Berlin<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Faster insights, lower latency or even lower costs for data acquisition and analysis are just some of the advantages of edge computing. In terms of Industry 4.0, it forms the foundation for increased automation and thus provides more agility in companies. The development and testing of edge computing software and the balancing of edge and cloud data spaces as a basis for sovereign data exchange and use are the focus of the \u201cEdge Data Economy\u201d technology program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the official kick-off event (28 March), partners from all ten projects came together in Berlin and presented their research approaches. The use cases are spread across different areas such as production, smart living and health care. In the future, the results obtained from these projects will contribute to the transfer of state-of-the-art data science technology, especially to small and medium-sized enterprises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESCOM \u2013 Edge-Services for Components<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a three-minute pitch, Prof. Matthias Weigold (Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools at TU Darmstadt) presented the goals and solution approaches as well as the challenges of the ESCOM research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"In addition to missing technology compositions such as linking Gaia-X with the Asset Administration Shell and OPC-UA, in ESCOM we also address legal aspects such as smart contracts and data protection.\"<\/p>\nProf. Matthias Weigold<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Edge Data Economy technology program is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action with a total of around 30 million euros and runs until September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
