Building on the findings of the research projects CliCE-DiPP<\/a>, EuProGigant<\/a> and ESCOM, a solution was developed that shows how the product carbon footprint (PCF) can be calculated in a standardised way in a digital ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The challenge is obvious: a lack of standardised interfaces and security frameworks make it difficult to network systems interoperably and manage data confidently. At the same time, the complex communication between machines, platforms and protocols means that companies put a lot of effort into integration and digital transformation progresses more slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our solution is based on open standards and a data room infrastructure that exchanges data securely and in real time. OPC UA and MQTT are used to network machines directly with each other. The PCF values are stored in the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and made accessible via the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) - an important step towards greater transparency and sustainability in production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of particular interest to visitors: the close collaboration between the CliCE-DiPP, EuProGigant, ESCOM and Factory-X projects makes it possible to see how companies can calculate their product carbon footprint based on standardised machine data within a networked data ecosystem. The carbon footprint is calculated dynamically, taking into account the respective electricity mix at different machines and locations in different countries. This allows you to experience interoperability directly in practice. The calculated CO\u2082 footprints are then fed into the administration shell, where they are available for further analyses and optimisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
